Patrick Mahomes might be one of the greatest football players according to some, but Skip Bayless has some criticism for the Kansas City quarterback.
On Tuesday’s episode of ‘The Skip Bayless Show’, the sports journalist went on to remark that Mahomes is hardly playing like himself and even went on to call him a ‘grandpa’.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl after defeating the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game, 32-29.
In that game, Mahomes went for 245 yards, completing 18 passes out of 26 attempts, scoring once. In the 2024 NFL season, the Kansas City quarterback covered 3,928 yards, which is much lesser than 4,183 yards in 2023, which is again lesser than 5,250 yards in 2022.
“Has anybody out there but me noticed that Patrick Mahomes is no longer Patrick Mahomes? That super-duper star, who took the NFL by storm in his first five years by, ‘Bombs away, storm, everybody go long and I’ll throw it 80 yards for touchdown after touchdown. Storm! Storm! Storm!’ Patrick Ma-Home Run is what he used to be. That guy is gone, along with much of the splash and the flash…
This Mahomes has turned into the ultimate dink-and-dunk artist. Tell me I’m wrong, No NFL quarterback gets rid of the ball quicker than Patrick Mahomes. Instead of high-rolling hundreds, trying to hit the casino jackpot the way he used to, especially in his first couple of years, this Mahomes just quietly and patiently plays the dollar slots. And it’s not like he’s 40 now, conceding to age.
Nope. Patrick Mahomes is playing like a grandpa at the ripe old age of 29.” Skip Bayless said on ‘The Skip Bayless Show’.
Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs can be seen in action on February 9th when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles for the Super Bowl.
The teams will lock horns at Caesar’s Superdome. While the Chiefs are coming after defeating the Buffalo Bills, the Eagles are coming after winning against the Commanders.
Patrick Mahomes’ Grandfather Enters Hospice Care
While Patrick Mahomes has plenty to celebrate and look forward to right now, his family is also dealing with some sad news at this point.
Randi Mahomes, Pat Mahomes’ mother, recently shared that her father, Randy Martin, has entered hospice care.
Randi Mahomes recently lost her mother, Debbie Bates Martin, back in April 2023, and clearly the pain is still fresh. Pat Mahomes’ mother also posted earlier this week that she misses her mother and wishes that she could call her.
