BREAKING: Taylor Swift May Finally End Her Historic Losing Streak At The Grammys

66th GRAMMY Awards - Show

Throughout her illustrious career, Taylor Swift has already won 14 Grammys. That’s a hefty accumulation, and she must need a strong shelf to hold all that gold.

There are still several prizes that have eluded the singer-songwriter throughout her many appearances at the biggest night in music, including one in particular that she’s been trying to win for a long time.

Swift has yet to claim Song of the Year, despite many chances to do so–and the fact that she’s one of the most celebrate songwriters of all time.

The superstar owns the record for the most nominations in the field, which honors those who actually write the songs the world loves, with eight. Somehow, she’s never been named the winner, but she has another shot at the prize this time around.

“Fortnight” is one of the eight nominees for Song of the Year at the 2025 Grammys. The tune is credited to Swift, Post Malone, and her longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, who all co-penned the hit.

Swift faces very tough competition this year, and a win is far from guaranteed. Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather,” Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die with a Smile,” Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please,” and Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” are all in the running as well. All of those tracks were big hits and critical favorites, and any one of them could come out on top.

In the past, Swift has been nominated for all of the following seven tunes: “You Belong with Me,” “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” “Lover,” “Cardigan,” “All Too Well (10 Minute Version),” and most recently, “Anti-Hero.”

There were several years when she was considered a real contender for the trophy, but so far, Song of the Year has not gone to the multi-genre powerhouse.

Swift has not been tipped by many Grammy predictors as a likely winner, so she may have to wait for another ceremony to finally score Song of the Year.

“Fortnight” was a No. 1 hit on the Hot 100, but it was far from the biggest win among the current roundup of nominees. It also didn’t earn the same kind of praise from the industry and critics, which factor into the decision of many voters.

The chart-topper may lay claim to the less-than-desired record of the most nominations in Song of the Year without a win—though the fact that she’s been up for the trophy eight times is incredibly impressive, whether she’s lost them all or not—but she also holds other spots in the history books when it comes to the most prestigious honor in music.

Last year, Swift won Album of the Year for the fourth time, for Midnights.

In doing so, she became the first artist to do so, breaking out of a tie with beloved figures like Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon, and Stevie Wonder.

Swift could add a fifth champion to her list of winners, as she’s up for Album of the Year again. The Tortured Poets Department was far and away the biggest release of 2024 around the world, though that’s not what the Grammys are supposed to be about. She shouldn’t be counted out in this field, though just as is the case with Song of the Year, it’s also not Swift’s trophy to lose.

The 2025 Grammy Awards will air live on CBS on Sunday, February 2.
