Patrick Mahomes admitted after the Kansas City Chiefs 32-29 victory that he was nervous watching the team’s defense on the field for the final drive of the Buffalo Bills late in the fourth quarter.
“I’m always nervous whenever the football’s not in my hand, but I have so much trust in that defense,” Mahomes said after the game. “They’ve done it all year, and I know that’s a great offense that they’re going up against and Josh has made a lot of great plays all night, all season long, but I trust that [defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo] is going to call the right blitz or call the right coverage and the guys are going to execute the assignment and then whatever happens, happens. I was very happy that it was incomplete and we were able to run the time out after that.”
In the end, Mahomes and company emerged victorious and are headed to their fifth Super Bowl in the past six seasons. While Mahomes was the star of the show on the field, Taylor Swift’s mom, Andrea, was the star of the show in the team’s postgame celebrations.
On Monday, Ashley Avignone, a friend of Swift’s, revealed new photos from the postgame celebration. While the first few slides showed a crowd of people celebrating, the final few focused on Swift’s mom.
“Winner stays on,” Avignone said in the caption of the post.
