REPORT: Dodgers Have Best Pitching Rotation in MLB History, Says MLB Analyst

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in the midst of another incredible offseason.

They started mere weeks after hoisting the franchise’s eighth World Series trophy, signing Cy Young award-winning pitcher Blake Snell, bringing back key pieces like Tommy Edman (extension), Blake Treinen, and Teoscar Hernández, and even brought in talent that have yet to play in MLB.

Korea Baseball Organization’s four-time Gold Glove award-winning infielder Hyeseong Kim was brought on board as well as the 23-year-old phenom from Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball, the highly sought after Roki Sasaki.

This raised some questions about what the rest of league is going to do to hit against this rotation.

With Shohei Ohtani returning to the mound in 2025, and Clayton Kershaw expected to be back in Dodger blue, there is no shortage of Cy Young awards and MVPs in the Dodgers 2025 rotation.

Could this rotation be the greatest ever? Fourteen-year MLB veteran turned MLB Network analyst Carlos Pena seems to think so.

“This looks, on the surface, like the best staff ever in the history of Major League Baseball,” Pensa said.

Pena certainly has a point, but the 1971 Baltimore Orioles and their four 20-game winners or the 1998 Atlanta Braves’ five 16-plus win starters are the current benchmark.

“Now I say that very bluntly and confidently,” Pena continued, “but potentially if they go out there and do what they are capable of doing, this is the best I have ever seen.”

To stay healthy and live up to expectations are words the Dodgers will probably hear all season long.

After signing left-handed relief pitcher Tanner Scott, the Dodgers’ pitching talents do not stop at the rotation.

Despite many pitching injuries last season and no clear closer on the roster, the Dodgers still ended up being crowned champions of the baseball world. L.A. now has their potential closer, an excess of talent for their starting rotation, and will have many more options who are returning from injury in 2025.

From Snell to Sasaki and now to Scott, Los Angeles has exceeded even their own lofty expectations on improving upon their roster.

The 2025 season will certainly be a scary time for opposing batters.
