Curry has been earning the trust of his young teammates on and off the court.
Steph Curry has risen to become one of basketball’s brightest stars for over a decade, capturing a pair of NBA MVP awards and most recently leading the United States to Olympic glory with his masterful shooting, but an anecdote from a Golden State teammate revealed that he’s still not above standing in for an Uber driver.
Following Golden State’s 131-106 victory over Chicago Thursday evening, rookie center Quinten Post spoke with reporters and detailed a recent airport fiasco where Curry emerged as a savior.
Post shared that after his team arrived back in the Bay Area following a road trip around 3 a.m., the rookie found that none of his ride-share services were working and he was unable to contact a ride home. And despite Post remaining adamant that he would figure out a solution, Curry insisted that the rookie accept a ride home, thus Golden State’s star point guard detoured 20 minutes near the break of dawn to help Post find his way home.
“Probably out of the 50 people at the airport, Steph was the last person that needed to worry about if I got home,” Post said. “That’s just the person he is. Great teammate. And obviously, everything on the court speaks for itself.”
