Patrick Mahomes Grandfather Has Entered Hospice Says Mom Randi Mahomes 100

Patrick Mahomes’ grandfather has entered hospice care.

“My father has entered hospice and I’m at a loss for words,” Patrick’s mother, Randi Mahomes, announced via her Instagram Story on Friday, January 24.

Randi, 49, shared a throwback photo of her and her dad at an event together. She included a series of prayer hands emojis. Randi also added the bible verse Colossians 3:20, which states “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”

Randi did not share any additional details about her father’s current condition. Patrick has yet to publicly speak out.

In September 2024, Randi shared that her father was admitted to the hospital due to an undisclosed sickness. On her social media page, she asked fans for their support via prayer.

“Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy. He is in the hospital and is not well. His name is Randy,” she wrote via X at the time.

The recent update on Patrick’s grandfather comes days before the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the Buffalo Bills for the AFC Championship on Sunday, January 26. If the Chiefs win on Sunday, the team will head to Super Bowl LIX to face off against the winner of the NFC Championship Game (either the Philadelphia Eagles or the Washington Commanders,).

The Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls in the last two years. If they proceed to the Big Game this year, they have the potential to make NFL history as the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

As Patrick and his teammates geared up for the playoffs, the quarterback previously shared he has high expectations for himself and Travis Kelce.

“I think the greats step up in the playoffs,” Patrick said during a January press conference. “It’s just higher intensity and the best players and the best leaders step up and make the best plays. He’s done that and so I expect the same from him going into this playoffs.”

The NFL playoffs and news of his grandfather’s condition also comes nearly two weeks after Patrick and wife Brittany Mahomes welcomed their third child, daughter Golden. Brittany, 29, gave birth during the Chiefs’ bye week and brought the couple’s eldest children, daughter Sterling, 3, and son Bronze, 2, to the Chiefs’ first playoff game.

“It’s been a special run, just with everybody here in Kansas City from the organization to the community, from the team and from my family,” Patrick said during a press conference. “I just try to cherish that. I still remember moments from the World Series my dad, [Patrick Sr.], played when I was 5 years old. So, these are moments I’ll have with my family for the rest of my life.”
