Taylor Swift was a constant presence around Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs during their run to the Super Bowl last year, attending nearly all of his games and spending significant time around the team before and after games.
Swift appears to have changed that approach this year, skipping the team’s road games during the season and now adopting a new schedule as the Chiefs near the Super Bowl once again. With the Chiefs hosting the Buffalo Bills in the AFC title game on Sunday and a chance to play in their third straight Super Bowl, Swift has decided to give her boyfriend plenty of space.
The Daily Mail reported this week that Swift left for her Manhattan apartment as Kelce and the Chiefs prepared for the AFC championship, giving him space. While she is expected to return to Arrowhead Stadium for Sunday’s game, Swift’s new approach could be the result of ongoing questions about whether she has become a distraction to Kelce and the team.
Swift’s new routine could also be a bit of a superstition. She maintained a similar schedule last week, staying at her Manhattan apartment before leaving early on Saturday morning and watching the Chiefs take down the Houston Texans later that day.
While rumors have hinted that Swift could be distracting her boyfriend, the team does not appear to share the concerns. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has already addressed the rumors that Kelce might be distracted by Swift, saying in September that he isn’t worried at all about the veteran tight end.
“I know people are saying that he’s old or that he has distractions, but defenses don’t think that,” Reid said, via Fox News. “Trav is fine. He just keeps being Trav. He works his tail off. He hasn’t lost a step. He’s not distracted.”
