Miami Heat Acquire Milwaukee Bucks Star in Proposed Jimmy Butler Trade

Jimmy Butler’s name is dominating the NBA headlines right now. Having recently returned from a suspension, he has been suspended by the Miami Heat once again. Butler wants to leave Miami. There is absolutely zero doubt about that. Now, it remains to be seen if a trade can be engineered before the deadline.

There are not too many teams in the league who are willing or capable of taking on Butler’s contract. His age and injury history make a trade even more difficult to pull off. The Phoenix Suns are pretty much the only team to have been consistently linked with Butler since he made it clear that he was looking to leave the Heat. But other teams might need to be involved as well in order to facilitate a trade. Bill Simmons came up with a four-team trade that would involve Butler heading to Phoenix.

He said on his podcast:

“Well, the trade I came up with was Butler to the Suns, Beal to the Bucks, Miami gets Khris Middleton, Steven Adams from Houston and Cam Whitmore from Houston, and Houston gets Brook Lopez, and that actually works.”

Of course, a lot on depend on Bradley Beal as well and whether he is ready to play ball and leave the Suns, as he has a no-trade clause. In the past, it has been suggested that the Heat are not particularly keen on Beal. In Simmons’ proposed trade, he would end up in Milwaukee. One could question whether the Bucks would be interested in Beal.

We have seen him struggle as the third option behind Kevin Durant and Devin Booker in Phoenix. He might have to play a very similar role for the Bucks, who already have Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, two of the best scorers in the league. Then there are the question marks around Middleton, who looks like a shell of the player he was in his All-Star days after struggling with injuries.
