The Los Angeles Lakers are always among the most talked about teams whenever it comes to trades or signing in the NBA.
It’s just how the team operates and how they’ve always done things.
Los Angeles is expected to be active at the upcoming trade deadline as they look to go after another NBA title.
The Lakers have done well this season but by adding more talent to the mix, they could heavily increase their chances of winning. In this new trade proposal by Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World, the Lakers make a sneaky trade to land guard Bruce Brown from the Toronto Raptors.
Brown would serve the Lakers well and Los Angeles wouldn’t have to part with too many to land him.
Here is what the deal would look like:
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Bruce Brown Toronto
Raptors Receive: Gabe Vincent, Jarred Vanderbilt, Jalen Hood-Schifino, 2025 Second-Round Pick (LAC) ”
It’s a reasonable price for a player who can contribute immediately and help transform the Lakers from playoff hopefuls into true contenders, especially since the team wants to use second-round picks rather than first-rounders to improve the roster.”
Brown is a player that the Lakers have wanted for some time now, almost adding him in free agency a few years ago.
The veteran would give the Lakers some roster flexibility due to his ability to play multiple positions.
Los Angeles has its sights set on adding players who can fit the mold of position flexibility and Brown would certainly help that.
Brown could play as a guard or against a smaller forward due to his long wingspan.
While he is still getting his feet under him this season due to injury recovery, Brown would be a massive addition for Los Angeles.
Brown is also on an expiring contract so he would provide the Lakers with financial flexibility at the end of the season.
His $23 million deal could do wonders for the Lakers’ salary books and is another reason for the team to potentially go after him.
Adding a player like Brown could be the difference between another early playoff exit and a deep run for Los Angeles this season.
The Lakers have plenty of options ahead of the trade deadline but with limited resources to use, they will need to be careful. They can’t make a trade just for the sake of making one if they want to have long-term success.
