The Chicago Bulls are one of the few teams that could deal at least one of their players as the 2025 NBA trade deadline approaches.
We are about three weeks away from the highly anticipated Feb. 6 trade deadline, and the Bulls could make a move or two to shake up their roster. They have many coveted pieces on their roster, and they could be moved as they look to build for the future.
They’ve been struck in the middle for the last handful of seasons, and that is the worst spot a team could be in in the NBA. While that is the case, that could all change in the coming weeks, and this trade scenario has them doing just that. This massive trade idea sees Bulls point guard and former No. 2 overall pick Lonzo Ball return to his hometown, this time to play for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Clippers receive: Lonzo Ball
Bulls receive: P.J. Tucker, Derrick Jones Jr., and a 2026 second-round draft pick
Ball has struggled with severe knee issues this past handful of seasons, and injuries are always a concern for him.
However, he could be of great use to Los Angeles. In addition, the Clippers get rid of Tucker in this scenario, who has been seeking to leave L.A. since the start of the season. Tucker has been away from the team this season, and he was never truly needed by the Clippers.
Tucker is in the final year of his deal, and it is likely that a split will occur. The Clippers came into the season viewed as a bottom-feeder in the Western Conference, but they have had a solid season so far.
Their roster is well-balanced, and they complement the four best players well: Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, Norman Powell, and Ivica Zubac. Ball is an unselfish player who has showcased his skills during limited appearances on the court this season. In 22 out of 42 games this season, Ball has been solid, averaging 6.5 points per game, 3.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals while shooting 37.5 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from three in 20.2 minutes of action.
Ball’s knee issues are serious, and it will take some time before he returns to form. However, age is on his side, and he has the tools to be a fine player for the Clippers, who are looking to take their team to the top.
