Stephen Curry exited Saturday’s contest between the Golden State Warriors and the Washington Wizards at Chase Center due to a left ankle injury. Curry’s history with ankle injuries had Warriors fans worried, but the two-time MVP allayed their fears postgame by declaring he expects to play on Monday against the Boston Celtics on Monday.

“Feels great. See you on Monday,” Curry said.

Curry injured his ankle with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter after blocking former teammate Jordan Poole’s layup attempt. As Poole came down, he landed on the two-time MVP’s right foot which led to him getting off-balanced and tweaking his left ankle. You can check out the incident below.

Curry had a noticeable limp after this sequence. He tried to walk it off but eventually was forced to head to the locker room with the Warriors leading 117-110. With so little time left in this game, the hosts weren’t in too much trouble despite the 10-time All-Star’s departure, as they won 122-114.

Curry, who finished with 26 points (10-22 FG), five rebounds, six assists, one steal, and one block, wasn’t the only Warrior who was missing in the final stages against the Wizards. Draymond Green suffered a left calf injury in the first quarter and was forced to leave the game. Green had just returned from a three-game absence due to illness and we now wait to see if he misses any more time.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked about Curry and Green’s injuries postgame and stated they’re both day-to-day as of now.

“Draymond’s going to get an MRI tomorrow and Steph just told me he doesn’t think it’s serious but they’ll both be day-to-day for now,” Kerr said.

The Warriors would be hoping that Green is able to play against the Celtics. They have lost three of their last four games without him and are so much worse defensively in his absence.

As for this win over the Wizards, it was the second in a row for the Warriors and they have now improved to 21-20 on the season. Andrew Wiggins led the way with 31 points (12-22 FG), 11 rebounds, four assists, one steal, and two blocks in the contest.

New acquisition Dennis Schroder had probably his best game as a Warrior in this one too, finishing with 20 points (7-14 FG), one rebound, four assists, and one steal. The team would be hoping this is a sign of things to come from Schroder.

For the Wizards, meanwhile, Poole had 38 points (12-25 FG), five rebounds, and five assists. He was brilliant against his former team but it wasn’t enough to get the win and the Wizards have now dropped to 6-34 on the season.

Poole has been one of the few bright spots for the Wizards in this campaign and his good play might just be stinging the Warriors a bit. They, of course, traded him there in 2023 and it’s looking like a mistake at this point. You wonder how much better the Warriors would have been this season if Poole was still on the team.
