There’s no doubt that Travis Kelce is in love with Taylor Swift, and the NFL star is happy to have her around after her iconic Eras tour. “Me and Taylor are happy,” Travis, 35, said during an appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show on Wednesday, January 15.
“I couldn’t be happier to have that confidence and that comfort off the field and all the support I could ever ask for in the stadium, man.”
Stephen, 57, admitted that he had never listened to Taylor’s music before, but he’s definitely a fan after attending one of her shows.
The sports commentator even went as far as to say that it was the “greatest concert” he had ever been to “in his life.” Stephen said his daughters “hoodwinked” him into taking 10 of their friends and spent $20,000 on tickets, but Travis was quick to point out that the cost of those tickets were “resale.”
“I was thinking, ‘This better be worth it!'” Stephen continued. “
But I gotta admit, it was so damn good, I went back twice.” When the Kansas City Chiefs tight end asked if Taylor, 35, had Stephen “singing along the second time,” Stephen pointed out, “And dancing!” Travis went on to say that his relationship with Taylor had given him a boost in all aspects of his life.
“I think, personally, that’s the beauty of being in a very strong relationship.
You get that support to be able to come in and focus on your craft, focus on being the best version of you.
You know, that’s why I wanted to be at the concerts supporting her and being there for her and making sure she feels comfortable and supported in everything she’s doing in life,” the three-time Super Bowl champ explained.
“I think I’m as focused as I’ve ever been on my job and being the best player that I could possibly be week in and week out for this team. You know, it’s because I don’t have to worry about things off the field.”
The Straight Shooter author recalled that some fans felt like Travis wasn’t in peak physical condition when he started the season and blamed that on all the time he spent supporting Taylor during the Eras tour.
“The first thing is, you have to be true to yourself,” Travis replied. “If people are saying things, you have to be able to reflect and look at yourself and see why they are saying these things.
I was still playing at a high level knowing all that had been said. We were winning football games, which is all I ever care about and [the Chiefs] knew how hard I worked and how much focus I have on football throughout the year.
So, it’s just what’s true, what’s real and how do we become better knowing that what I’m putting out on the field may not have been my best or how do I keep getting better knowing the roles have changed a little bit.”
