The NBA is returning to NBC through Peacock and as early as now, they are doing promotions with the help of the league’s top stars led by two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Milwaukee Bucks starred alongside Jayson Tatum of the defending champions Boston Celtics and 2024 Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama on the San Antonio Spurs in the 45-second add that also feature Jack McBrayer of 30 Rock.

Jenny Storms, CMO, Entertainment and Sports, NBCUniversal said the ad is hoping to target nostalgia to bring back the audience to NBC.

The ad received praises for using the current and future faces of the league.

“It was so much fun to create this spot in partnership with the NBA as it winks at the nostalgia and legacy of NBC’s history, but also propels it forward by showcasing the stars of the game in an innovative and playful way,” she said.

“We’re also using this moment to launch our NBA social media accounts, which will engage with next-gen fans every day.”

NBC will start airing NBA games on Peacock by fall of 2025.

The skit stretched 45 seconds featuring the three players as part of a tour of the NBC studio along with other visitors.

Each player got their own concerns regarding the visit, were given their own punchlines.

Antetokounmpo’s lines stood out but not for NBC reasons. It a subtle shot on Boston Celtics’ championship.

Tatum humble brag about his championship ring asking McBrayer if it will go through metal detectors.

Antetokounmpo, who has an image as a jokester, replied saying “I have one, too. I just don’t wear it everywhere.”
