REPORT: What To Expect From Taylor Swift In 2025, From Taylor’s Versions To TS12

Taylor Swift during the Reptuation era of the Eras Tours movie

With Taylor Swift having yet another big year in 2024, between the release of The Tortured Poets Department double album and the conclusion of her record-breaking The Eras Tour, it’s hard to imagine she could have even more up her sleeve for 2025 – but indeed she does. If Swift has proven anything over the last 5-plus years, it’s that she always has something going on behind the scenes. She’s released eight albums, nine if you count The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology separately, ever since 2021, one of which was mostly recorded during The Eras Tour.

This, of course, includes her re-released albums known as the Taylor’s Versions, a six-part project that will help Swift reclaim the rights to new versions of her old music. Starting with Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in the early part of 2021, Swift now has just two more to go, and 2025 could be the year that she completes this true passion project. There could be even more in store for Swift this year as well, given how prolific she truly is as an artist. Here’s everything we expect to see from her in the new year.

Reputation (Taylor’s Version) Should Release In 2025

It’s Been Highly Anticipated For Years

One of Swift’s last two re-recordings, Reputation (Taylor’s Version), has been teased for years now. Swift mentioned the album and its vault tracks in her interview with TIME for Person of the Year back in 2023, and fans themselves have been hyping up this particular album ever since the Taylor’s Version project began. Reputation is extremely iconic, given how directly it dealt with the public scrutiny Swift was facing at the time, and fans are eager to hear what else Swift has to offer from this era that she previously kept in the vault.

The reason why the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version) is essentially inevitable in 2025 is because it follows Swift’s preexisting pattern for her Taylor’s Versions. Beginning in 2021, Swift has released her Taylor’s Versions in the years when she was currently working on new material, thus giving those newer albums more time to shine. For example, Swift dedicated 2021 and 2023 to Taylor’s Versions, but kept 2022 and 2024 dedicated to Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department, respectively. With this in mind, it makes complete sense that Reputation, as the most-teased, will kick off 2025’s Taylor’s Versions release cycle.

Debut (Taylor’s Version) Could Also Release In 2025

Swift Typically Releases Two Taylor’s Versions A Year

Taylor Swift Debut Album

Of course, Reputation (Taylor’s Version) isn’t the only re-recording expected to release this year. Swift will likely conclude her Taylor’s Version project with the re-release of her debut album, Taylor Swift. This is because it not only fits with the idea that this project is Swift reclaiming both her name and her reputation, as reflected in these two albums specifically, but also because it also fits with Swift’s previous pattern of re-recorded releases.

Swift has been consistent with releasing two Taylor’s Versions a year, as was the case in 2021 with Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version). 2023 was the same with Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Now that it’s 2025, and thus time for Swift to release her last two re-recordings, it’s expected that Reputation (Taylor’s Version) will arrive in the earlier part of the year, while Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version) closes out the year and the entire project.

At this point, however, little is known about Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version), at least compared to Reputation (Taylor’s Version). While the latter has some snippets released for recent TV show trailers, most notably “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)”, Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version) has remained tightly under wraps, including the possibility of Swift including classic songs like “I Heart ?” on the re-recording. This makes the idea of this album releasing this year even more thrilling, as these questions will finally be answered.

Will There Be Another Eras Tour Release?

Swift Filmed Her Final Shows..

The potential for Swift to release another version of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour also seems likely, given the fact that her last three shows in Vancouver were filmed – and, even prior to this, camera crews had been spotted in backstage areas. It seems as if Swift is planning to release a behind-the-scenes documentary about the historic world tour, complete with new footage that includes The Tortured Poets Department set. This was something her previous Eras Tour movies weren’t able to include, due to them releasing prior to her latest album.

After 149 shows played over the course of nearly two full years, Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour has officially come to an end. What’s next for Swift?

If Swift does release an Eras Tour documentary this year, it’s reasonable to think that it would likely be towards the end, perhaps on the anniversary of her tour’s conclusion. It could also be around her birthday in December, which was the release frame for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) on Disney+. If Swift has snippets of her creating things for her last two Taylor’s Versions in this documentary, it would make sense that she would want those albums to be released first. This is all, of course, speculation at this point, however.
