The New York Yankees got back to the postseason in 2024 after missing the playoffs in 2023.

After winning the American League East with a record of 94-68, the Yankees made a run to the World Series before losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

While that loss was tough, the offseason didn’t get any easier for the Yankees as they lost superstar outfielder Juan Soto to the New York Mets as a free agent.

The Yankees did make some key acquisitions after losing out on Soto, and one of those was a trade for Cody Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone recently revealed his plans for Bellinger in 2025.

“Kind of sorting out do I want to keep him in left full time, do I want to keep him in center?” Boone said, via MLB Network.

Bellinger is an outfielder and a first baseman, but Boone said after the Yankees signed Paul Goldschmidt from the St. Louis Cardinals, the plan for Bellinger shifted to left field or center field.

The former Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player had another productive season in 2024 with the Cubs.

He played in 130 games and batted .266 with 18 home runs, 78 RBIs and a .751 OPS.

Boone also mentioned that Bellinger reached out to him after the trade and said he is willing to play anywhere the team needs him to.

The versatility of Bellinger will be an asset for the Yankees as they try to repeat as AL East champions and make another run to the World Series.
