Former Washington Huskies star cornerback Trent McDuffie has collected another accolade in his short, but very successful NFL career after he was named to the AP’s All-Pro second team on Friday.
The 2022 first round pick can add that to an impressive trophy case that includes Super Bowl rings from each of his first two years in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs, and named a first team All-Pro selection in 2023. He’s also the league’s premier lockdown corner according to Pro Football Focus, with a lockdown rate of 66.7 percent while working against some of the league’s top receivers like Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals and Nico Collins of the Houston Texans.
McDuffie has become even more productive since the departure of L’Jarius Sneed and moving to the outside of defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s secondary. He grabbed his first two career interceptions in back-to-back games and set a new career-high with 13 pass breakups.
He was joined on the All-Pro team by another former Husky, Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker, while Minnesota Vikings cornerback finished sixth in voting among cornerbacks.
While McDuffie was snubbed from the Pro Bowl this year and still hasn’t made one in his career, his MVP-caliber performance in Super Bowl LVIII and earning All-Pro honors in the last two seasons should bode well for him when he is eligible for a contract extension at the end of the season.
McDuffie sat out the final game of the season while nursing a knee injury should be good to go when the Chiefs, who are awaiting their next opponent, plays in the divisional round next weekend at Arrowhead Stadium.
