The Kansas City Chiefs will have plenty of time to rest before their first playoff game after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day to clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
With the Chiefs’ playoff position already locked in, the team will likely opt to rest their starters in Week 18 to get healthy and not risk any more injuries.
Patrick Mahomes is one player who could certainly use that rest. Not only is he dealing with an ankle injury, but he’s also expecting his third child with his wife Brittany at some point in the coming weeks.
In a postgame interview after the win, Mahomes revealed the promise he made to his wife before the game.
“I told my wife I was gonna get her the No. 1 seed so we can go have that baby,” said Mahomes.
And now? Brittany is on social media via Instagram to share what appears to be her last set of maternity photos before the big arrival.
In her post, Brittany sends a message for her coming baby girl by saying, “We’re ready for you little one.” Meanwhile, fans and media are having fun with baby names.
Following the interview, Netflix analysts Ian Eagle, J.J. Watt and Nate Burleson began to discuss potential names for Mahomes’ baby girl, eventually leading them to come up with “Platinum Mahomes.”
The Mahomes’ two children, Sterling Skye and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon, along with their two dogs, Silver and Steele, are all named after metals, so Platinum is not out of the realm of possibility for the couple’s third child.
The reality is that all fans and analysts can really do is speculate until the Mahomes family welcomes their baby girl in the near future. … oh, and “Goldie” wouldn’t be bad, either.
