Kansas City will get pick No. 66 in the 2025 NFL Draft from the Titans.

The Chiefs officially know what draft pick they’ll receive from trading L’Jarius Sneed to the Titans last offseason. In a surprising turn of events during Week 18, Tennessee clinched the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.

That means Kansas City will get pick No. 66, the third selection in the third round of the draft. Since the Titans, Browns, and Giants all finished with the same record, they’ll alternate picks throughout. If Tennessee would’ve finished with the third overall pick, the Chiefs would’ve had the top selection in that round instead.

Either way, it’s excellent value and proves that Brett Veach and his team won the trade. Sneed unfortunately endured a miserable year, playing only five games due to injury and struggling even when he was on the field. Once again, Veach traded an aging player at the perfect time and Kansas City is reaping the benefits.

Fresh off a four-year, $76 million contract extension, Sneed quickly gave Tennessee buyer’s remorse. After looking like one of the NFL’s most dominant cornerbacks in 2023, he ranked 207th out of 218 qualified players at Pro Football Focus, a far cry from being viewed as an All-Pro snub last year.

Sneed surrendered a 56.2 passer rating when targeted in coverage last season. In his first campaign with the Titans, he allowed a 91.8 mark. Kansas City’s concerns about his health proved to be warranted and sadly for Sneed, he went from the best team in the sport to the literal worst.

Turning 28 years old in a couple of weeks, Sneed now hopes to get healthy during the offseason and put this season behind him. There’s plenty of time to turn things around in his new home, though Tennessee does have a potential out of the contract following 2025.

No matter what happens on Sneed’s end, this was a major win for the Chiefs. Veach has done an excellent job identifying mid-round talent over the years, so getting such a valuable pick just gives him another shot on goal to bring more young studs into the organization.

This all perfectly illustrates why Kansas City has built this dynasty. Teams should’ve learned by now not to deal with the Chiefs but if they’re willing to keep getting fleeced, Veach will certainly oblige.
