The Boston Celtics could be without their star guard, Jaylen Brown, for Sunday’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Brown is ruled as questionable due to a right shoulder strain. Justin Turpin shared the news via X.

Brown has missed the Celtics’ last two games with a shoulder strain. Sam Hauser has started in Brown’s absence and will likely continue to do so if the star forward is unable to play on Sunday in Oklahoma City.

The 28-year-old has played in 28 games this season but has missed the last two and several before that with various injuries. The last we saw of Brown was on New Year’s Eve in their dominant win over the Toronto Raptors.

In 25 minutes of action, Brown scored 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and one steal while shooting 46 percent from the field. The Celtics were in complete control of that game, winning by a final score of 125-71.

Luckily, the Celtics have been able to stay afloat in their last two games without him, but Sunday will be challenging as they face the Thunder, the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

The Thunder hold the second-best record in the league with a 29-5 record and a 16-2 home record.

Nonetheless, the Celtics have an excellent road record—13-3—and enough players to carry the load in the meantime. As things stand, the Celtics are road underdogs with a -1.5 spread.

Boston ranks fourth in the Eastern Conference with 34.0 defensive rebounds per game, led by Jayson Tatum, averaging 8.8.

These two teams are among the elite in the league. While no one holds a candle to the Celtics ‘ three-point attempts, the Thunder are still a solid three-point shooting team.

The Thunder’s 13.5 made 3-pointers per game this season are only 0.8 more on average than the Celtics’ 12.7 per game. The Celtics average 18.7 made 3-pointers per game this season, 6.1 more on average than the Thunder’s 12.6 per game.

The Celtics will have their hands full in this matchup, as the Thunder have won 14 of their last 15 games.

Brown will be missed in this contest if he is indeed ruled out.
