TARGET: Yankees Predicted To Trade $37 Million Star To Hated Division Rival

The New York Yankees have had quite an exciting offseason. One of their moves was acquiring starting pitcher Max Fried to slot atop the starting rotation with right-hander Gerrit Cole.

After acquiring Fried, the Bronx Bombers traded Nester Cortes Jr. away, but they still have a bit of a logjam in the starting rotation at the big league level. New York has six big league starters and a few top prospects who could slot into the rotation in 2025. Somebody else has to go or the Yankees will end up losing them for nothing.

Pete Caldera of Northjersey.com recently predicted the Yankees would trade starting pitcher Marcus Stroman to the Toronto Blue Jays. Stroman began his career with Toronto.

“Seeking to unload Marcus Stroman’s $18 million contract for ’25, GM Brian Cashman trades the right-hander back to the willing-to-spend Toronto Blue Jays for two lottery pick prospects,” Caldera wrote.

Trading Stroman would be a good move for the Yankees. It would take a good bit of money off the Yankees’ books which would allow them to spend the money elsewhere.

Trading Stroman also would open up the possibility for New York to pursue a better infielder to slot in at third base. Or it could spend the extra money on the bullpen.

The righty would slot back into Toronto’s rotation as one of the team’s more established starters. He would head back to where his career began.

Would the Yankees explore trading Stroman? Would the Blue Jays want him back to fill out the rotation?
