The Official Chart Company has released the year-end tallies, with Taylor Swift scoring the UK’s best-selling vinyl release in 2024.
‘The Tortured Poets Department’ rocketed to No. 1 in the week of its release, and ends 2024 with with 112,000 units sold – a imposing figure.
Oasis claim second place, with the vinyl re-issue of ‘Definitely Maybe’ pleasing fans ahead of their much-anticipated world reunion tour this year.
Chappell Roan’s sleeper hit ‘The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess’ was third, in part due to the success of the Popstar Edition vinyl re-release.
Sabrina Carpenter is in fourth place, while Fontaines D.C. claim fifth position with their ace new album ‘Romance’.
Taylor Swift has the vinyl charts in a stranglehold – ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ topped the countdown in 2023, while ‘Midnights’ occupies pole position in 2022.
Overall, physical sales increased for the first time since 1994 – with vinyl rising yet again, and sales of both CDs and cassettes reaching fresh heights.
