Chiefs Player Cries ‘Robbery’ After Teammate Was Snubbed in Pro Bowl Voting

The 2024 Pro Bowl participants has been announced, and as usual, it’s caused some controversy. Some fans feel that certain players have been snubbed from the selection. Chiefs fans, for example, are not happy that one of their own was snubbed.

Surprisingly, most people aren’t talking about Patrick Mahomes, who was not selected in the Pro Bowl. Rather, Chiefs fans are not happy that cornerback Trent McDuffie was not selected to the Pro Bowl. One of McDuffie’s teammates, safety Justin Reid, criticized the voting format and claimed that the cornerback was robbed.

Replying to a post about McDuffie missing out on the Pro Bowl, Reid said that he “can’t stand the (Pro Bowl) format”.

The AFC’s Pro Bowl defenders include Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey, Browns CB Denzel Ward, Texans CB Derek Stingley Jr, and Broncos CB Pat Surtain II. McDuffie’s snub is notable because Pro Football Focus has the Chiefs CB as the second-best cornerback in the league, behind Surtain.

A first-team All-Pro last season, McDuffie continued his excellent play this season. He has 59 tackles, 13 passes defended, two interceptions, and a forced fumble this season. He’s allowed a completion percentage of 60% when he was targeted this season.

The Chiefs are in the playoffs thanks in large part to their defensive mastery. McDuffie has thrived in Steve Spagnuolo’s deceptive defensive schemes, giving him opportunities to make plays. The Chiefs defense have held teams to just 310.8 yards per game, good for fourth in the league.

The Chiefs are now heading to the playoffs to try and do the unthinkable: win the three-peat. No team has ever achieved a three-peat in the Super Bowl era. With their defense performing this well, the Chiefs have a legitimate shot at that insane achievement.
