BREAKING: Brandon Ingram could actually be a really good fit for the Warriors

Can Brandon Ingram Be a Top 2 Player on a Championship Team? - Basketball IndexExamining possible trade packages for New Orleans Pelicans All-Star Brandon Ingram…

What could the Golden State Warriors offer for Ingram?

The Warriors have a couple of different packages to offer for Ingram, who is definitively on the trade block, as reported by Forbes’ Evan Sidery on Tuesday.

Ingram Package A

  • Andrew Wiggins
  • Brandin Podziemski
  • Gary Payton II (expiring)
  • 2029 first-rounder
  • 2031 first-rounder

Ingram Package B

  • Jonathan Kuminga
  • Andrew Wiggins
  • Brandin Podziemski

The difference between the two packages is the presence or absence of the greatest asset the Warriors have to offer: 22-year-old Jonathan Kuminga.

Kuminga’s stock is soaring and he looks like a future star of late. Golden State probably wouldn’t feel that Package B is worth their while, especially with Ingram on an expiring, which is why they definitely wouldn’t include any picks (if they were to remotely consider offering this package at all, which is doubtful).

Package A is a more realistic scenario from the Warriors’ perspective, although they’d probably start negotiations with only one first-rounder included and might back out if New Orleans demanded two first-rounders.

It all depends on how highly Golden State values Ingram as a potential Robin to Stephen Curry’s Batman for the next few months. Do the Warriors really feel that Ingram would move the needle and be able to operate as that second star they’ve been looking for?

If so, the Dubs might want to work out some kind of deal that resembles Package A. Then again, if Golden State pulled off acquiring Ingram without giving up Kuminga, the entire NBA would be astonished and the Pelicans’ front office would have many questions to answer.

A deal between these two teams would be extremely difficult to negotiate. There are other options for New Orleans to explore, including a possible trade with the New York Knicks, the details of which can be found below.
