In a candid interview with former teammate Rio Ferdinand in September, Ronaldo discussed the need for a complete overhaul at the club after a poor campaign under Erik ten Hag, who was subsequently sacked.

### “The Club Needs to Rebuild from the Bottom”

Ronaldo didn’t hold back in his analysis of the challenges facing his former club.

> “This club needs time to rebuild because it’s still one of the best clubs in the world, but they need to change,” he told Ferdinand.

> “They understand that. This is the only way. They are starting to change the structure of the club, the president, the infrastructures—everything. It’s more than just talent. The whole club needs to work as a unit. If not, they cannot compete. It will be impossible.”

### Ronaldo’s Ambition: “I Will Be a Club Owner”

Speaking at the Globe Soccer Awards three months later, Ronaldo doubled down on his earlier remarks, stating that the problems at United go far beyond the coaching staff.

> “I said this one-and-a-half years ago, and I will continue to say it. The problem is not the coaches. The problem is much more than that,” Ronaldo remarked during a panel discussion alongside Thibaut Courtois.

When asked if he still felt the same way, Ronaldo suggested he could personally bring about the changes he believes are necessary.

> “100 per cent. If I were the owner of the club, I would make things clear and fix what I think is wrong. I’m still young, and I have many plans and dreams ahead. Mark my words, I will own a big club one day. For sure.”

Ronaldo also shared his broader aspirations, hinting that his future lies in ownership rather than coaching or club administration.

> “I’m not a coach. I’m never going to be a coach. President of a club? No. Maybe an owner of a club,” he said during the interview.

When pressed further, he added:

> “Probably. I will see. It will depend on the moment and the right opportunities.”
