TO HIS BELOVED BLUES: Walker Buehler Sends a Christmas Message to Dodgers Fans After Signing With the Red Sox

Walker Buehler may not pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers next season, but he’ll always be a legend in L.A.

Buehler, who agreed to a one-year, $21.05 million deal with the Boston Red Sox this week, will pitch on a non-Dodgers team for the first time in his professional career next season.

Buehler was selected by the Dodgers in the first round of the 2015 MLB Draft. He debuted with the team in 2017, and made two All-Star teams and won two World Series trophies along his journey.

This past year, Buehler played hero in the World Series against the New York Yankees. Buehler pitched five shutout innings in Game 3 of the World Series. Two days later, he pitched the final three outs in Game 5 to clinch the World Series for L.A.

While Buehler won’t be pitching in Los Angeles in 2025, his legend will still live on in the Dodgers organization forever.

The fact that Buehler was the hero less than two months ago, though, means his No. 21 jersey was a great present for the holidays — especially since he remained a free agent just a few days ago.

While fans on social media were posting pictures of their Buehler jerseys as gift, the 30-year-old right-hander took notice. He decided to send a nice message to Dodger fans who may be unhappy that their gift is the jersey of a player not on the team anymore.

“The #21 Dodgers unis you guys got today are still cool!” Buehler wrote on his X account. “I’m gonna wear a different one next year but I appreciate y’all rockin em nonetheless!”

Buehler’s deal is not yet finalized with Boston, so he’s likely waiting to post his official goodbye to Los Angeles.

But on Wednesday, as fans were posting pictures of their presents, he decided to make sure everyone knew their jerseys would still be great to wear no matter what teams he plays for next season.
