Solidifying herself as a top name in the music industry, Taylor Swift produced several hit songs like “Blank Space”, “Me!”, and “Bad Blood.” Becoming the highest-grossing performer and a billionaire, the singer is also considered the richest female musician in the world. Although loving the career she produced, back in 2019, Swift decided to celebrate her past and the Christmas season when she recorded “Christmas Tree Farm”—a song that fans across social media have since crowned the “best modern Christmas song.”
Back in 2019, Swift took the stage at the Jingle Bell Ball. Wearing all white, the singer paused the concert for a moment as she placed a Santa hat on her head. With thousands of fans in attendance, footage of Swift’s childhood played behind her as she performed “Christmas Tree Farm.” Loving her childhood memories surrounding Christmas, the song quickly became a holiday favorite among fans.
Looking at what fans had to say about the performance, comments included, “I wasn’t feeling the Christmas spirit this year until this song came out. Thanks for saving Christmas Taylor.” Another comment included, “This song sounds like it’s been a classic for decades. It’s the Christmas song we were missing and didn’t know it. SPOT ON. Congrats Tay.”
Although producing a classic Christmas song, in 2021, Swift went back into the studio to record an “Old Timey Version”, which featured re-recorded vocals and even an orchestra.
Taylor Swift Not The Only One Taking Over The Christmas Season
With several singers and bands recording Christmas albums and songs over the decades, Swift joined the company of stars like Mariah Carey and even Ariana Grande. For those who might not remember, in 2014, Grande released “Santa Tell Me” which featured influences of pop and R&B.
While fans loved the Christmas hit, critics also gave it high marks as Billboard placed in No. 13 on The 100 Best Christmas Songs of All Time list. And although released a decade ago, in 2024, the song landed in the No. 9 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. “Santa Tell Me” also dominated the airwaves in other countries like Germany, Greece, Hungary, Canada, New Zealand, Poland, and even Ireland.
Although Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” reigns supreme, it is only a matter of time before Swift and Grande close the gap to become the Queen of Christmas.
