Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry is in the twilight years of his career, nearing the point where he plans to retire from the sport. Curry discussed his possible retirement from basketball in an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews on Tuesday.

Curry says he knows his career is nearing its conclusion. He has also thought about it more than he used to because he knows that his playing days are numbered.

“More than I’ve probably had before,” Curry said on how often he thinks about retirement. “I think it’s okay to accept and acknowledge that the end is near at whatever point only because it allows you to enjoy what’s happening right now.

“I think the more you talk about it, the more you acknowledge it, it levels up just the sense of urgency of the moment now.”

Lakers star doesn’t want to take his matchup against Steph Curry for granted

LA Lakers star LeBron James is set to play his fourth Christmas Day game against Steph Curry this season. While fans have always found it entertaining to see the two stars play against each other, their age won’t let them play on for much longer.

Both in the twilight years of their careers, James knows the importance of playing against his old rival during the holidays. After the Lakers’ 117-114 loss against the Detroit Pistons on Monday, the four-time All-Star was appreciative of getting the chance to play against Curry on multiple occasions.

“Always. Anytime you get an opportunity to be on the court and compete versus one of the greatest to ever play this game, you do not take it for granted,” James said. “You don’t know how many more opportunities you are going to get to go against each other, so it’s always fun.”

James is in his 22nd season in the league but has shown no signs of slowing down. He’s averaging 23.2 points, 8.0 rebounds and 9.0 assists, far from what a usual 40-year-old would play.

Both stars have shared the courts as opponents but fans were lucky over the summer as James and Curry played together for Team USA and earned a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
