The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to become the first team in NFL history to win a Super Bowl in three straight years.
Of course, winning two in a row is no small feat, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes revealed a key moment during last season that helped them beat the San Francisco 49ers in last year’s Super Bowl.
Last year, they ended the season 11-6, with their final loss coming on Christmas Day to the Las Vegas Raiders. However, in Mahomes’ eyes, it may have been a blessing in disguise.
“That was a pretty embarrassing loss, and you know everybody was watching because it’s Christmas Day, and so obviously it sparked us to win the Super Bowl, so it ended up working out,” he said.

Mahomes credits that game as what sparked them to win the Super Bowl.

This season has been very different for the Chiefs, who are 14-1, have the AFC West title locked up and currently hold the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
Their one loss is also far from embarrassing as it came to the Buffalo Bills, who are 12-3 and a threat for the No. 1 seed.
However, the Chiefs and Mahomes once again play on Christmas Day this year, but this time it’s against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who at 10-5 are a formidable opponent and a loss wouldn’t be as hard to imagine.
