Mohamed Salah is in the final year of his Liverpool contract, and his long-term future at Anfield remains uncertain.
The Egyptian forward has yet to sign a new deal with the club, and with the January transfer window approaching, he will be free to negotiate with other teams regarding a potential move at the end of the season.
Liverpool are eager to retain their star player, but negotiations over a new contract have not yet yielded an agreement.
After Salah’s standout performance in Liverpool’s 6-3 victory over Tottenham—where he scored twice and provided two assists—he was asked about his contract situation. Offering a brief update, Salah told GOAL: “No update.”
The 32-year-old added, “It’s great to achieve that at such a big club, but the most important thing is that we won the game. Wherever I end my career, I am happy about it.”
Liverpool cannot afford to lose Salah
Salah has been in sensational form this season, scoring 15 goals and providing 11 assists in just 16 Premier League matches.
His consistent performances have been instrumental in Liverpool’s title challenge, underlining his importance to the team.
While Salah has reportedly engaged in positive talks about extending his stay, he has yet to commit, leaving Liverpool exploring potential replacements. However, letting him leave would be a significant blow to the club, as he remains the cornerstone of Arne Slot’s project.
If Salah were to leave, suitors from across Europe and beyond would line up for his signature. However, Liverpool would be wise to secure a new and improved deal for the Premier League star, ensuring his crucial presence for the years to come.
