The mega pop star and girlfriend of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce made a $250,000 donation to a local KC nonprofit.
Taylor Swift is in the business of making headlines. This week, it’s not just for making the most popular music in the world, or for simply attending NFL games (which she did do this past weekend). Instead, Swift is making headlines for a charitable contribution.
Swift, the girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, has been spending a lot of time in Kansas City as a result of the relationship.
This holiday season, Swift is giving back to the community. Swift donated $250,000 to a Kansas City-based nonprofit known as Operation Breakthrough.
Per their website, Operation Breakthrough “provides a safe, loving and educational environment for children in poverty and empowers their families through advocacy, emergency aid and education.”
The nonprofit works with children of working class families, providing them with quality care and programs.
They specialize in early childhood education and family support services. It’s a charity that Kelce himself has done a lot of work with.
It’s CEO, Mary Esselman, was shocked and thrilled by the news.
“Our kids were pretty excited,” the CEO said. “We asked them if they wanted to do a little thank you, and you could see we had a lot of enthusiastic participants.”
The charity made a video featuring children in the program, thanking Swift for her holiday generosity.
“We have 432 students, birth to 5-year-olds who are there every day for early care and education,” Esselman said about the early learners program. “Our goal is to make sure every child enters school ready.”
And Taylor Swift just helped to achieve that goal.
