BREAKING NEWS: Huge news has been confirmed on Leroy Sane’s move to Liverpool this evening

The January transfer window is just two weeks away, and Liverpool have already been linked with a wide array of potential signings.

Among those rumored is Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, who has been cited as a possible replacement for Mo Salah if the Egyptian does not extend his contract at Anfield.

However, Sergio Aguero recently claimed that Salah has already agreed to a new two-year deal, which would lessen the urgency for Liverpool to target a right-sided forward. As a result, Sane’s move to Merseyside seems unlikely in the near future.

Plettenberg: Sane to Liverpool links are ‘not hot’

On Monday evening, Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg dismissed the speculation, stating on X:

"Major news has emerged this evening regarding Leroy Sane's potential transfer to Liverpool." | 9jablogsport

“I’ve been told that rumors linking Leroy Sané with Liverpool are not hot at this stage. Currently, there are no internal discussions or concrete plans regarding a Liverpool transfer for Sané this summer.

It remains possible that the 28-year-old could leave Munich on a free transfer in the summer, as Bayern are not actively pushing for a contract renewal at this point.”

Sane may not be Liverpool’s priority right now

While Plettenberg downplayed the links, Christian Falk of *BILD* recently claimed that there has been contact between Liverpool and Sane, and that the winger remains on their radar.

Both journalists are credible sources, making the situation somewhat unclear regarding the Reds’ actual interest.

If Salah does sign a new contract, Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes could shift focus to other areas of the squad that need reinforcement, particularly in defense, where injuries have exposed the team’s lack of depth.

Should Sane’s contract negotiations with Bayern continue to stall, Liverpool may consider signing him on a free transfer in the future, similar to how Alphonso Davies—another Bayern player linked with Liverpool—could become an option.

While a move for Sane currently seems improbable, the unpredictable nature of football transfers means the possibility cannot be entirely ruled out.
