Alexander Isak has firmly stated that he is not engaging with the transfer rumours linking him to Arsenal. The Newcastle United forward, who has recently returned to action with the Swedish national team following a toe injury, declined to address speculation surrounding his future, reiterating his dedication to his current club.
Isak’s name has frequently surfaced in connection with a potential move to Arsenal, as rumours of a transfer to the North London club resurface. However, the Swedish international is focused solely on his role at Newcastle.
“I’ve never commented on transfer rumours during the season in my entire career,” Isak told reporters. “There have been years when a move to Arsenal has been speculated, but it doesn’t affect me. I’m fully focused on my job at Newcastle, and we are working towards having a strong season, with plenty of opportunities ahead. I’m not thinking about anything else.”
Isak also took the opportunity to praise his fellow Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, who has been generating interest from both Arsenal and Manchester United, especially after Ruben Amorim, former Sporting Lisbon manager, took charge at Old Trafford.
“We’ve known for a while what Viktor can do and the level he’s at,” Isak said. “It feels like the whole world is starting to notice him now, including in England. It’s fantastic for him and for us in the Swedish national team to have such a talent.”
Isak, along with Dejan Kulusevski and Gyökeres, is among the frontrunners for this year’s Guldbollen, the award for Sweden’s best footballer. However, Isak remains indifferent to individual accolades. “We all do our best to perform, but we know that how it’s voted and chosen is out of our hands,” he explained. “As for winning the award, it’s not something I’m thinking about. It’s just a bonus. I’m more focused on having a great season with both my club and the national team.”
Isak has been a key player for Newcastle United, delivering consistent performances up front, which have naturally attracted the attention of top clubs. Nevertheless, for the time being, he remains fully committed to Eddie Howe’s project at St James’ Park.
