Barcelona’s young talent, Lamine Yamal, has encountered a setback in his recovery from an ankle injury. The 17-year-old had recently returned to action after missing nearly three weeks due to an ankle issue sustained in a Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade.
However, his comeback was short-lived. During Barcelona’s match against Leganes, Yamal suffered another injury to the same ankle after a strong tackle in the 16th minute. Despite the injury, he continued playing until being substituted in the 75th minute.
Barcelona has confirmed that Yamal will be sidelined for at least three weeks, effectively ending his year. The club announced that he has a grade 1 ligament injury, which is unrelated to his previous injury.
Yamal’s absence will be a blow to Barcelona, especially during the busy festive period. He will miss the final league match of the year against Atletico Madrid and the Copa del Rey clash with UD Barbastro. There’s also a possibility he may miss the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia early next year.
Fortunately, Barcelona only has one more league match left in 2023, providing a brief break before fixtures resume in January.
