The Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the NFL’s biggest conundrums this season.
They are only one of four teams to score fewer than 30 points in every game this season, according to CBS Sports. The other three are the New England Patriots (3-11), New York Giants (2-12) and Las Vegas Raiders (2-12).
Kansas City, naturally, is 13-1 having squeaked out low-scoring, narrow victories all year. In fact, the team has tied an NFL record spanning 99 years and is just one more low-scoring win away from breaking it.
The 1925 Frankford Yellow Jackets owned the mark for most wins scoring 30 points or fewer in a single season (13) until now. They went 13-7 against NFL opponents and finished sixth in the league that year.
The franchise no longer exists and was eventually replaced by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kansas City has three remaining opportunities to pass that mark with its 14th such victory.
It would need to edge out one of Houston (Dec. 21), Pittsburgh (Dec. 25) or Denver (Jan. 5) to do so.
All three teams average under 30 points allowed per game, making it more likely Kansas City will claim the unusual achievement.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ ankle injury won’t be a major factor it seems, however, with the back-to-back Super Bowl champion fully practicing Tuesday.
Breaking a near-century old league record would be the perfect capstone to Kansas City’s wacky season, reinforcing Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid’s remarkable talent and legacies.
