While the Los Angeles Dodgers are fortifying a winning roster for 2025, one of the team’s latest additions is predicted to win the Cy Young award next season.
MLB Network’s Harold Reynolds believes left-hander Blake Snell will win the Cy Young in his first season in a Dodgers uniform.
“I think it’s Blake Snell,” Reynolds said. “I been saying all winter, I think right now he’s on that groove where he’s the best pitcher in baseball.
And now he’s on a team that’s the best team in baseball. I just feel like his stuff is electric. He doesn’t have to go deep in games, I think he proved that.
You know the narrative coming from Tampa and then going to San Francisco he threw his no-hitter. I think he falls back in to the comfort of what the Dodgers like. It’s just going to be five, six innings of light out pitching.”
Snell, 32, looked to be in his best form down the stretch of last season.
Snell was able to pitch the first no-hitter of his career in August with the San Francisco Giants.
He landed on the injured list twice in 2024, but returned stronger than ever after his second stint.
He was one of the best pitchers in baseball in the second half, sporting a 1.64 ERA across six August starts and a 1.00 ERA across four September starts.
Reynolds’ prediction falls in line with what president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said of Snell in the southpaw’s introductory press conference.
“With a guy that’s enjoyed that much success, usually in major league free agency, you’re buying the back-side of a guy’s career, the accomplishments that they have had,” Friedman said.
“With Blake, one thing that’s really exciting for us is, for as much success as he’s had, we feel like there’s more in there and a lot of upside beyond what he’s done to this point, and the impact that can have on us and our quest to win a World Series this year, and as many years as we can see out.”
It’s evident Snell is expected to reach new heights in Los Angeles.
If he were to win the Cy Young next season, it would be his third time winning the award — and with his third different team.
