BREAKING NEWS: Ruben Amorim reveals real reason why Marcus Rashford was dropped for Manchester derby in astonishing press conference.

“I waited for us to win before I tell the fans the reason why I benched him. What him and Garnacho did was unacceptable and if they continue like this they will have to leave this club for serious players to play. I don’t want to get sacked becausr of them”-Ruben Amorim reveals real reason why Marcus Rashford was dropped for Manchester derby in astonishing press conference.

Following Manchester United’s surprising 2-1 victory over local rivals Manchester City, manager Ruben Amorim has explained his decision to drop star winger Marcus Rashford from the matchday squad.

City initially took the lead through Josko Gvardiol, but United staged a late comeback with two quickfire goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo, securing a dramatic Premier League win. However, much of the pre-match drama revolved around the absence of Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, who were both omitted from United’s squad.

Amorim initially stated that the decision was based on evaluations of their performances in training and their off-pitch conduct. In the post-match press conference, the Portuguese manager provided further clarity, dismissing speculation that Rashford’s exclusion was due to disciplinary issues or poor behavior.

“It’s important to clarify: it was not a disciplinary matter,” Amorim said. “Next week, next game, new life—they are fighting for their places.

“If it was disciplinary, I would say so, and it would be a bigger problem, but it’s not. For me, it’s about everything: performance in training, performance in games, the way you dress, the way you eat, how you engage with teammates, how you push your teammates—all of it matters.

“When people in the club are losing their jobs, we have to set incredibly high standards. Everyone has to fight for a place in the team. Today, the squad proved that we can leave anyone out and still win if we play together.”

Rashford’s reaction after being substituted early during United’s 2-1 Europa League victory over Viktoria Plzen may have also influenced Amorim’s decision, adding further context to the manager’s emphasis on standards and unity.

With Amorim’s high expectations, Rashford and Garnacho now face the challenge of proving themselves to earn their places back in the squad as United continues to rebuild under their new manager.

Premier League forced to release new Tottenham VAR statement after Bournemouth controversy cost them to drop points vs Spurs

The Premier League has provided an official explanation regarding AFC Bournemouth’s disallowed goal during their clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.Andoni Iraola’s side had been the more dominant team in the first half and deservedly went into the break with a 1-0 lead, courtesy of James Tavernier’s determined finish. Bournemouth then believed they had extended their advantage just six minutes into the second half when Justin Kluivert produced a stunning finish at the end of a swift counterattack. However, the celebrations were cut short as VAR intervened, ultimately disallowing the goal and awarding Spurs a free-kick instead.Shortly after the incident, the Premier League released a statement clarifying the reasoning behind the decision.“VAR checked the referee’s call of goal and established that [Antoine] Semenyo was in an offside position in the build-up and recommended that the goal was disallowed,” the statement read. While the decision itself was not particularly controversial upon review, it became a topic of debate due to the assistant referee’s failure to flag the offside infringement in real time. In recent seasons, there has been growing concern among managers regarding the practice of delaying offside calls, as it can lead to unnecessary injuries when play is allowed to continue.Despite the setback, Bournemouth did not let the disappointment affect them and eventually doubled their lead in the 65th minute through Evanilson. However, Tottenham responded almost immediately, showcasing their resilience. Just two minutes later, Pape Matar Sarr reduced the deficit, injecting fresh energy into Ange Postecoglou’s team. The drama continued as Spurs pressed for an equalizer, and their persistence paid off when Kepa Arrizabalaga brought down Son Heung-min inside the penalty area. The South Korean forward confidently stepped up to take the spot-kick, calmly dispatching it past Arrizabalaga to complete the comeback and ensure the match ended in a 2-2 draw. With the hard-fought point secured, Tottenham now turn their attention to a crucial week ahead. They will face AZ Alkmaar in the second leg of their Europa League tie, aiming to progress further in the competition. Following that, Postecoglou’s side will travel to Fulham for their final Premier League fixture before the international break, a match that could prove significant in their push for European qualification. As Spurs prepare for these pivotal fixtures, the Bournemouth clash serves as another reminder of the fine margins in the Premier League and the increasing influence of VAR in shaping crucial moments in matches.
