The Los Angeles Dodgers have already had an active offseason just a month after winning the 2024 World Series.
The biggest move came just before Thanksgiving, when the team signed two-time Cy Young award winner Blake Snell to a five-year, $182 million deal. Just days later, the Dodgers extended NLCS MVP Tommy Edman on a five-year, $74 million deal.
Earlier this week, just before the start of the Winter Meetings, the Dodgers made two more moves. First, the team agreed to a one-year, $17 million deal with outfielder Michael Conforto. Shortly after, it was reported that right-handed reliever Blake Treinen was returning to L.A. on a two-year, $22 million deal.
While the Dodgers have already solidified some major holes on the roster, they’re far from done improving this offseason.

“We’ve made some moves that have set a real strong foundation for a successful team,” general manager Brandon Gomes said Wednesday. “Now we’ll take the next couple weeks leading up to spring training to explore what’s out there.”
He discussed the types of moves L.A. is still looking to make.
“We’ll continue to try to make moves we feel are needle-movers,” Gomes said. “Whether that’s impact moves, or depth moves, all those play into our quest to repeat.”
First and foremost, the Dodgers still need to add another outfielder before next season. Teoscar Hernández would be the most obvious option, but the two sides remain apart in contract negotiations, as Dodgers Nation reported on Thursday.

In addition to the outfield, the Dodgers could still use another starting pitcher. While Roki Sasaki is a “major priority” for the team, he won’t sign for another month when the 2025 international signing window opens on Jan. 15. Thus, the Dodgers may need to add another option in the next month before finding out Sasaki’s plans.
Finally, the Dodgers could still look to address the bullpen. One of their potential targets in former Milwaukee Brewers reliever Devin Williams is officially off the board, as he was shipped to the New York Yankees. Now, the top potential reliever the Dodgers could add is All-Star left-hander Tanner Scott, who should command a hefty contract in free agency.
While the Dodgers already have a roster capable of repeating in 2025, expect the team to continue to be very active as they look to get even better heading into next season.
