REPORT: Dodgers Sign Former Brewers, Mariners Pitcher as Free Agency Continues

The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed former Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners pitcher Sam Carlson, he announced on his personal social media account on Friday.

“First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to the entire Brewers organization for everything over the past year,” Carlson wrote. “The memories and relationships I built there will stay with me forever. That said, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve signed with the Dodgers!”

Carlson, 26, was selected in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners. The right-handed was with Seattle until 2023, but didn’t pitch from 2018 to 2020 as he recovered from Tommy John surgery. In 2020, the minor league season was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Carlson reached High-A with the Mariners in 2023, before spending the entire 2024 season with the Brewers’ Double-A affiliate. Across 44 appearances, he had a 4.25 ERA with 51 strikeouts and 19 walks in 48.2 innings pitched.

Carlson is now joining the Dodgers organization on what is presumably a minor league deal. The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder will likely start in Double-A or potentially Triple-A as he works with the Dodgers organization to improve his game as he aims to make his MLB debut.
