The Miami Heat have announced that the NBA has named Tyler Herro as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played between Monday, December 2, and Sunday, December 8.
Herro led the Heat to a 3-1 record against some tough competition, averaging 25.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists while shooting 50.7 percent from the field, 43.6 percent from three-point range and 87.5 percent from the foul line in wins against the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, and Cleveland Cavaliers. He led his team in points in three of the four games and was the game-high scorer in two of them. More impressively, the Heat’s press release notes that Herro was the only NBA player to “post at least those averages and shoot those percentages for the week.”
This is his first Player of the Week honor, having previously won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award in 2022. He is now the 17th player in team history to have won it and the 62nd time a Heat player has been named Player of the Week.

Herro has arguably been Miami’s best and most consistent player this season, and he could be looking at his first All-Star nod if he continues to produce at this rate. Could he be on track to win the NBA’s Most Improved Player award this season too? Senior writer Brandon Di Perno looks at Herro’s chances here.
