Stephen Curry and Buddy Hield stepped up in a major way last night in the Golden State Warriors’ 114-106 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Both players had major scoring nights. After the game, Stephen Curry praised Buddy Hield for being the hardest-working teammate he has ever had, along with the amazing energy he brings to the locker room.

“He’s all extreme – happy, enjoying, and talking all the time. We love that energy because he loves the game. He probably puts more hours in the gym than I think I’ve ever seen anybody [put in].”

“The consistency in his approach does bring joy to the locker room, and to the plane, no matter where we’re at, you’re going to hear him. He lifts everybody up… I know the work that he puts in. I heard him say he won’t leave the gym until it feels good.”

Buddy Hield put up amazing numbers in the win against the Timberwolves last night. He had 27 points (10-18 FG), four rebounds, two assists, and three steals, going a brilliant 7/13 from the field and shooting 53.8% from beyond the arc.

Stephen Curry was also excellent, putting up 30 points (8-18 FG), four rebounds, eight assists, and one steal while going 5-11 from the three-point line.

Buddy Hield has already proven himself to be a significant upgrade over the recently departed Klay Thompson. Thompson was once a superstar-caliber player for the Warriors, but after his injury, his form dipped massively, and wasn’t able to recover.

Hield has been able to bring a level of consistency from the three-point line that the Warriors sorely needed, and it has allowed the weight to be slightly alleviated from Stephen Curry’s shoulders.

The hope will be that Hield continues to perform at this high level that he has going forward, as any kind of playoff aspirations the Warriors have to depend on his ability to perform well.

Buddy Hield Says He Never Loses Confidence

Buddy Hield also spoke to the press after the game. He noted that he doesn’t lose confidence during games because he is a shooter and understands that both makes and misses are part of the game. He added that when he begins to overthink things, the coaches help him come back down to earth and focus on the little things.

“I never lose confidence. I’m a shooter. I work too hard. It all comes to making and missing. Sometimes, the energy of the game or the flow of the game doesn’t help how you make shots.”

“As basketball players, we overthink when it’s simple. Coach Steve and all the other coaches back there just say, ‘Make it simple.’… As a shooter, I’m aggressive, and I want to make a splash, two or three in a row. Hit singles and don’t try to hit home runs, and that helps me come down to earth.”

Hield is having an awesome season with the Warriors, averaging 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game while shooting 45.3% from the field, 43.1% from deep, and 92.3% from the free-throw line.

Perhaps Hield will continue his great form in the Warriors’ next game, as they face the Houston Rockets in the NBA Cup Quarterfinals at the Toyota Center on Wednesday, December 11th, and 9:30 PM EST. The Warriors will want to win the NBA Cup to boost their momentum heading into the second half of the season.
