Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift might soon have their love story turned into a Broadway extravaganza, amid plans for a play inspired by their whirlwind romance.
After consistently supporting her beau at NFL games throughout the 2023 season, Swift’s frequent stadium visits have become fodder for theatrical storytelling in a proposed 75-minute show detailing how the couple met and their journey together.
The potential production says it will delve into the inception of their relationship and how their already high-profile lives have continued to evolve since they became an item.
Both Kelce’s and Swift’s stars have risen even further, as the pop icon, who was already a household name, is now making waves in sports circles following her impressive streak of 13 NFL game appearances last year – including a huge effort to watch the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory after jetting in from Tokyo.
While Swift sightings have been sparser this NFL season due to her busy schedule concluding the Era’s tour, which has recently wrapped up after an almost two-year run, she still grabs attention whenever spotted at Kelce’s matches.
According to the U.S. Sun, a source stated: “Travis particularly struck the writers. They see him as the guy next door. Not a fashion model or a beautiful actor, but a hard-working athlete who has fought to the top.
The show is set to kick off on Broadway, with hopes of going global if it proves successful. It boasts a hefty $7.5million (£6million) production budget.
Both Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce, have been presented with numerous opportunities outside of football since they shot to fame due to Travis’s relationship with Swift. Jason has since hung up his NFL boots, taking on a role with ESPN and recently appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel show.
On the other hand, Travis made his acting debut in the FX horror series ‘Grotesquerie’, and also served as an executive producer for the comedy-drama film ‘My Dead Friend Zoe’.
In recent weeks, a Hallmark movie based on Kelce and Swift’s romance, titled ‘Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story’, has hit the screens.
