Chiefs Make Huge Travis Kelce Announcement Before Tonay Night Football

The Walter Payton NFL Man of The Year Award is one of the more prestigious awards that the NFL gives out at the end of each season. The award recognizes the off-the-field efforts of 32 nominees, one from each NFL franchise.

And the Chiefs have announced their selection for this season is Travis Kelce.

Kelce’s nomination for the award is thanks to his charity work through his foundation 87 & Running. 87 & Running provides underprivileged kids in Kansas City opportunities for motivation and mentoring in areas such as STEM, business, art, and athletics.

In the event Kelce wins the award, he would not be the first Chief to do so. Kansas City has had four previous winners of the NFL Man of The Year/ Walter Payton NFL Man of The Year Award. Linebacker Willie Lanier (1972), quarterback Len Dawson (1973), linebacker Derrick Thomas (1993), and offensive guard Will Shields (2003).

Kelce earning Walter Payton NFL Man of The Year Award honors would only add on to his long list of accomplishments in the NFL. On the field, Kelce is a three-time Super Bowl Champion, four time first-team All-Pro, three time second-team All-Pro and nine-time Pro Bowler. Winning this award, however, could hold slightly more meaning to Kelce then his on-field accomplishments.

To earn that accolade, Kelce will have to receive more votes then players like, Maxx Crosby, Andrew Billings, Bobby Wagner and Jeffery Simmons. Each one of those players, as well as, everyone else in the pool of nominees has done a lot to help their community to.
