OMG!!! NFL analyst blasts the Chiefs as ‘one of the fakest undefeated teams’

Are the Kansas City Chiefs really as good as their undefeated record suggests? As we inch near mid-season, many doubters are coming out of the woodwork to determine whether the defending Super Bowl champs are as good as their 7-0 record suggests.

One person in the sporting world who doesn’t believe the hype is CBS Sports analyst Mike Renner.

Renner made a valid point during a CBS Sports HQ Spotlight segment when the Chiefs became the subject of conversation. Renner points out that the defending champs are not blowing anyone out in any games and that eventually, someone is going to come along and hand them their first loss, and maybe sooner rather than later.

“This is one of the fakest undefeated teams … they’re a good team, not a great team,” Renner said.

Renner would go on to get cooked in the post’s comments section, with people not buying his take on the team to beat in the NFL in 2024.

Patrick Mahomes

Renner referenced the 2007 New England Patriots and their run at a perfect regular season of 16-0 (only to lose the Super Bowl and fall to 18-1).

The Patriots would win games against good teams by a margin of three or more scores. Despite being accused of cheating that year, they were also accused of running up the score a few times.

The 2024 Kansas City Chiefs have played seven games so far this season, and five of those games have been decided by a touchdown or less. They come into every game with their prescience being acknowledged as the best in the league, and yet teams can still put up points at them.

Most teams that get the buzz around them as potentially being undefeated usually end up losing late in the season, and all this does is make them better and take the stress off the narrative of whether they can actually be defeated.

In terms of the AFC Conference, Mahomes and company don’t seem to have any fierce competition, but in the NFC, things get interesting.

Teams like the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, and even the 6-2 Washington

Commanders look to be teams that feel poised to be up for the challenger come February if they can hang in there long enough.

The Chiefs added powerhouse wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to their receiving group.

Although he had only two receptions for 29 yards, many feel that as the weeks go on, he will be seeing more and more targets from Mahomes.

The Chiefs’ 7-0 record will be tested once again next week when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have suffered back-to-back losses, come to Arrowhead Stadium hungry for a win.
