Alex Verdugo is a free agent and the Yankees may look to upgrade from him. However, until Soto makes a decision on his future the Yankees are stuck in terms of spending. If Soto leaves the Yankees could definitely use the Dodgers slugger in their outfield.

Spotrac projects Hernández to sign a three-year, $71 million deal in free agency.

He is coming off a career year and his second career All-Star selection.

He had 33 home runs and 99 RBIs in 154 games for the Dodgers. He also won the Home Run Derby during the All-Star Break. He capped off his season with a World Series title.

Hernández told reporters that the Dodgers are his top choice, but it is not in his hands.

“The Dodgers will be my priority in free agency. I will do whatever is possible to return. It’s not in my hands, but if it were I’d pick them,” said Hernández.

The Yankees will be one of many teams looking to add him. However, perhaps the ability to play for another contender will be enough for the Yankees to win the sweepstakes for him.
