Steph Curry has become the 29th player in NBA history to score at least 24,000 points. Curry broke the barrier on Saturday night in the Golden State Warriors’ 113-105 loss against the Phoenix Suns. Can the Warriors superstar make the league’s top 10 all-time scoring list?

With less than five minutes left in the game, Curry received a perfect bullet pass from Draymond Green after cutting to the basket. He made the easy layup as Tyus Jones and Royce O’Neale were too late to react or challenge the shot. It was a historic shot, but the Warriors were down 15 points at that point.

Curry finished the game with 24,005 career points, with Allen Iverson in his sights next. Iverson is ahead of the two-time MVP by just 363 points. Curry currently averages 22.5 points per game, which means he could surpass “The Answer” in 17 games. If he stays healthy, he’ll make it official early next year.

Despite the amazing accomplishment, Steph Curry is only 29th on the all-time scoring list. Curry is behind by 4,284 points to break into the top 10, and at the age of 36, he is past his prime. However, he remains one of the best players in the world.

Curry’s scoring is down this season, although it’s due to Steve Kerr’s 12-man rotation. He doesn’t have to score a lot of points since they got a lot of players that earned minutes.

If he averages 22.5 points or more in the next three seasons, Curry will break into the top 10. However, he needs to remain healthy and play all 82 games per season. But due to his age and other factors, he’s unlikely to do it in just three seasons.

Steph Curry will be turning 37 next year and has endured a bunch of injuries over the past two years. He has a contract until the 2026-27 NBA season, and would likely not make it to the top 10 if he retires after that.

One of the reasons why Steph Curry might not make it to the top 10 of the all-time scoring list is injuries. If Curry can’t stay healthy, he won’t have enough time to crack the top 10 to displace Carmelo Anthony, who has 28,289 points.

Speaking to reporters after Saturday’s game, Curry was asked about how he was feeling after missing Friday’s game with tendinitis in both his knees. He was honest in sharing details about his injury, explaining that it’s something that he’ll likely fight off for the rest of his career.

“It has the potential to be like a nagging type thing if you don’t take care of it,” Curry said. “I’m not worried about it. I’m not concerned about it at all. It’s just the deeper you get into your career, the more things pop up, and you just gotta figure it out.”

The Warriors have now lost four in a row after starting the season 12-3. They fly to Denver to face the Nuggets on Tuesday in their final group game for the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup.
