In a behind-the-scenes video from a 2011 photo shoot, the ‘Midnights’ singer shares why she chopped her hair
Taylor Swift has officially rocked bangs for 13 years.
Fans across the Internet are celebrating the anniversary of when the pop superstar, now 34, first debuted bangs for her 2011 Vogue magazine photo shoot. At the time, Swift shared a picture of her new look on Instagram, captioning it, “Got a haircut,” alongside a photo of herself and a friend.
“I literally only got bangs bc of her,” one user wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
“one of the best things to ever happen to her tbh,” someone else commented.
Another person replied, “The girl bangs with bangs.”

In a behind-the-scenes video from the 2011 Vogue photo shoot, the Midnights singer explained more about the decision to chop her hair, now part of her signature look.
“It was a pretty interesting morning because they were like ‘We’re thinking we’re gonna do maybe bangs, maybe some extensions,’ ” she says in the video. “And I’m like ‘You know what? Just cut it. this is Vogue, why not.’ So I have bangs now.”
“A new hairstyle and new makeup,” she adds. “I love that I got to pose with my instruments. It’s just so exciting to get to make a departure from what people usually see me looking like but still be recognizable and it was a great balance with the two.”
Although 13 years have passed, Swift continues to own the bangs, while making subtle changes to them.
Recently, on the second night of her final U.S. tour stop on Nov. 2, she took the stage in a bright orange Versace bodysuit, her blonde hair down and straight. While nothing seemed unusual at first, fans quickly noticed that her hair looked different.
Afterward, X was flooded with Swifties posting things like, “HER BANGS OMG,” or “TAYLOR SWIFT CUT HER BANGS!” with a siren emoji. Many of the posts were accompanied by a video of Swift at the top of the show when fans got the first glimpse of the Grammy-winning artist with her slightly shorter bangs.
However, others X users were not convinced about the bang trim and wrote that they believed Swift simply “swooped” her bangs to the side.
