⏳ Bayern Issue 48-Hour Ultimatum to Liverpool-Linked Defender – SPORTENTZ

Liverpool’s long-standing interest in Dayot Upamecano could soon receive a major boost, with Bayern Munich now pushing the French defender toward a swift decision over his future.

The 26-year-old centre-back is approaching a crucial phase in his Bayern career as his contract moves into its final year. With no breakthrough yet in negotiations, the Bundesliga champions have reportedly drawn a line under talks and demanded clarity.

Well-respected German journalist Christian Falk has revealed that Bayern’s leadership is growing frustrated by the lack of progress and has now imposed a strict deadline. Despite Upamecano playing an important role under new head coach Vincent Kompany, the club is unwilling to allow uncertainty to drag on any longer.

Writing in his CF Bayern Insider column, Falk explained that Bayern have given Upamecano just 48 hours to decide whether he wants to extend his stay in Munich or begin exploring alternative options. The deadline is said to fall this weekend, leaving little time for deliberation.

According to Falk, the message from Bayern is clear: commit now or prepare for an exit strategy.

This development has inevitably caught the attention of several elite European clubs — Liverpool included. The Reds have been monitoring Upamecano’s situation closely, particularly as they face their own contractual concerns in defence.

Ibrahima Konaté, one of Liverpool’s key centre-backs, is also entering the final stretch of his current deal, which expires in the summer of 2026. The parallel situations at both clubs raise the possibility of high-profile defenders becoming available on free transfers next year.

Falk has previously pointed out that Bayern have been trying for nearly a year to secure Upamecano’s long-term future, but time is now working against them. Should no agreement be reached, the defender would be free to negotiate with other clubs ahead of a potential free move — a scenario that naturally appeals to teams like Liverpool.

From Anfield’s point of view, reinforcing the central defence is becoming increasingly urgent. A previous attempt to sign Marc Guéhi fell through after Crystal Palace refused to sell, with the England international eventually moving to Manchester City. Add the uncertainty surrounding Konaté and the fact that Virgil van Dijk is entering the latter stages of his career, and the need for defensive planning becomes obvious.

Upamecano could emerge as a high-level solution, either as an immediate addition or a long-term successor. However, Liverpool are still expected to target at least one more centre-back to fully secure the future of their back line.

With Bayern’s deadline rapidly approaching, the next few days could play a decisive role — not just in determining Upamecano’s future, but also in shaping Liverpool’s summer transfer strategy. 🔥🔴
