Will Kristaps Porzingis’ return prove his value to the Boston Celtics?

The Boston Celtics successfully navigated Kristaps Porzingis’ injury, climbing to second in the Eastern Conference without the help of thier star big man. However, Boston’s rim protection has been a concern, as they have struggled to limit opposing teams from scoring within four feet of the basket. Fortunately for the Celtics, Porzingis made his season debut on Monday, Nov. 25, during Boston’s win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Porzingis has now suited up for two games this season and has already had a significant impact on the team’s rim defense and floor spacing. As he continues to improve his conditioning and gets back into game shape, his contributions will undoubtedly improve.

During a recent episode of WEEI’s “Slammed” hosts Meghan Ottolini and Justin Turpin discussed the impact Porzingis has made on the Celtics rotation since his return. The pair discussed whether Porzingis’ return after missing the opening month of the season would prove his value to Joe Mazzulla’s roster, especially if Boston’s defense can return to the level we saw last season.
