Rescuing an animal in distress is a race against time, and the Fundación JR Rescata team in Venezuela demonstrated this urgency beautifully when they encountered a dog abandoned on a rainy street.

As reported by Paws Show on YouTube, the dog, later named Polly, was discovered soaked to the bone, with a visible wound, and covered in mud, having dragged herself across the ground.

Polly was clearly suffering, shivering, and in poor health, with desperation evident in her eyes. Fortunately, her luck changed when dedicated volunteers gently lifted her into a truck to transport her to a veterinarian.

There, her body was thoroughly dried, her wound cleaned, and she received the compassionate care she urgently needed.

Once the grime was washed away, Polly’s condition visibly improved. Unlike many animals in her situation, she welcomed the nurturing touches of her rescuers, projecting a newfound confidence and trust.

To aid in her recovery, Polly was given much-needed food, which she eagerly accepted with the support of her caregivers.

The following morning, Polly ventured into the yard, basking in the sun and displaying encouraging signs of recovery by walking around and relieving herself.

The video caption sums up her journey aptly: “Polly wants to live like everyone else.” Her transformation, seen in her improved health and demeanor, is a testament to the dedication of her rescuers.
