Tottenham supporters may not be happy with Thomas Frank’s recent comments about the Pedro Porro situation. Some fans were angered by Frank’s stance that booing Guglielmo Vicario during the match was unacceptable, but it is Porro who has drawn most of the backlash.
After the defeat to Fulham, Porro was seen shouting at Lucas Bergvall and appeared to prevent the young midfielder from approaching the stands to applaud the fans. Instead of issuing an apology, Porro later defended his actions on social media, claiming he and his teammates felt disrespected and declaring his appreciation for what he called the “true Spurs fans.”
Thomas Frank explained that Porro’s reaction after the match came from frustration and declined to comment in depth on the defender’s online message. He emphasised that players are entitled to their own views, describing Porro’s post as “fair.”
When asked about the Spaniard’s remarks, Frank said via the club’s official channels: “I think it’s fair. Players are individuals who can have their own opinions. What he posted was fair.”
Porro did not cross any major lines in his comments, and while he continues to face criticism from sections of the fanbase, Tottenham supporters will be expected to back him and the rest of the squad when they take on Newcastle.
